I  am  a  lifelong  creative  with  years  of  experience  as  a  Filmmaker,  Script  and  Copy  Writer,  Journalist, Visual Content Creator,  and  Creative  Strategist  for  projects  in  the  arts,  culture,  catering,  education,  fashion,  film,  housewares,  and live  performance  sectors.

I  am  also  a  Gen  X,  former  latch-key  kid,  born  and  raised  in  Newark, Ohio, the  most  American  small  town  you  could  imagine.  As  an  awkward and  bookish  Black  girl  riding  her  tricked-out  bike  past  cow  pastures  and  corn  fields, the  journey  to  find  my  creative  voice  began  with joining  a  theatre  group  that  often  performed  on  a  hay-covered  flatbed  truck  parked  in  front  of  the  local  Kroger  grocery  store  -  I  shit you  not. That  group  of  kindred  spirits  saw  ME,  nurtured  me,  and  accepted  me  as  a  person  of  value.  From  that  port,  my  artistic  ship launched,  and  there  was  no  turning  back…

After  exploring  the  fashion,  film,  and  theatre  departments  at  Ohio  State  University,  I  moved  to  Chicago, where  I  came  of  age  during  the 90's era of  the  DIY  indie  filmmaking  and  outsider  art  renaissance.  I  embraced  the  raw  spontaneity  that  capturing images  on  video  allows you.  Editing  that  spontaneity  led  me  to  become  an  early  adopter  of  Avid  and  Premiere  digital  video editing  software.  Those  were extraordinary  years  of  artistic (and personal)  exploration  and  growth.  However, over  time  I  found  that  my  creative  career  was  treading water.  To  remedy  that,  I  established  JetGrrl37 Productions  (formerly  Gullible  Girl  Productions),  the  house  where,  to  this  day, my film, projects  reside.

Challenges  excite  me.  Collaborations  inspire  me.   I  firmly  believe  in  the  superhuman  power  that  engaging  and  relatable  storytelling  has  to  elicit  thought,  discussion,  and  debate  that  guides  us  toward  recognizing  our  commonality,  promoting  unity,  and  making  sense  of this  crazy,  mixed-up  world.  That  philosophy  is  the core of  my work.
