"Bright Icons"

A piece of enchanted turquoise sea glass that is dislodged from the floor of the English Channel washes onto Ovingdean Beach and is discovered by Esmerelda, a raven-haired beauty who immediately recognizes its power and potential. To utilize the energy harnessed in the sea glass, she fashions the sea glass into a seemingly arbitrary object, a small, magnifying glass-shaped brass fob, the sea glass serving as the lens. The fob’s lens is a portal through which the drama, comedy, tragedy, and pathos of the lives and legacies of the Deeprose and Welfare families intertwine with each other and the myth and mystery of the seaside town of Brighton, England.

Originally written as a one-act play for a touring company of actors, the project has evolved from a live performance event that uses street theater as the vehicle for a walking tour of Brighton's iconic cultural landmarks to a six-episode limited TV series

Limited Series TV Pilot Teaser Trailer

The six "Acts" featured in the Bright Icons pilot are introductions to the plot of the six episodes. In these episodes, we dive deeper into this magically realistic tale, shedding light on the magical energy’s origin story, each character’s human frailties and triumphs, and the blessings and burdens of legacy. The teaser trailer below, which I wrote and directed, explores the world of the TV series pilot episode.
